Infant Program

Welcome to the Roots Class

We are very excited to add the infant program to our existing preschool program at Wildwood Children’s School. The addition of this age group allows us to serve the whole early childhood; from infancy to the entrance to kindergarten at the foundation of human development.

Our philosophy is inspired by RIE and Magda Gerber, Hungarian infant educator who passionately advocated the competence of the young children. The goal of the program is building loving and trusting relationships with infants, recognizing and acknowledging that even the youngest children are unique and have thoughts, needs, and ideas of their own. Their social emotional growth, cognitive growth and motor growth are all naturally unfolding once the basic loving relationship is established.

The infant class serves children 0-24 months old. The individual needs and services are provided by the parents and the teacher follows the routines that are best fit for each child and the records are kept for the parents.

All records about an infant’s daily routines  such as eating and diapering are available through Brightwheel. Sleeping infants are monitored and updates are manually recorded at minimum 15 minute intervals. The school provides bedding, diapers, wipes and sunscreen. We also provide snacks for children 12 months and older.
